There have been several subtle changes to BRCGS procedures since the previous post (25/03/20).

For existing clients, if requested we continue to carry out Risk Assessments as part of the Certification Extension process. One significant change is that we now have to charge for the BRCGS fee for this, which is half the normal full audit fee for all risk assessment interviews since 1st June 2020.

The good news is that while we have been carrying out full on site audits in other countries e.g. China for a few weeks, we have also just started to resume them in the UK. This is good news for sites and for us frankly.

The BRCGS and all Certification Bodies working in the UK have been thinking hard about what will happen when those companies that have had an extension certificate will have to be fully audited later and how to resolve the bottleneck of audits that will result. One option from BRCGS is that companies that are normally due for audit later this year who have not had extended certificates may be able to move their re-audit dates without penalty, however we would also like all suppliers who have audits due in the next few months to consider whether we may do a full audit without resorting to the certificate extension programme.
